When you get a message from God, do you have it confirmed? Do you check it to see if it agrees with Scripture? Does the message give you peace, or feelings of unrest? Satan can give messages also - remember how he deceived Eve. We, as imperfect humans, have to be really careful as to where we think a message is coming from. We have to be 100% sure. God will never leave us with a feeling of uneasiness, or cause us to question his word (Scripture). Make sure of all things! Back everything with Scripture and make sure it agrees. Satan would love nothing more then to cause us to stumble and fall because we thought we got the word from God when it was not so.

Editorial Note:
The subject of prophecy can bring about endless debate. That is not the intent of this site! Do I personally believe prophetic messages are received in this day and age? Absolutely! Do I believe every message claiming to be from God truly is? Not at all! However, I will not deign to tell you what to believe. If you have received a message from the Lord and wish to share it here, please send it to me for review. Counsel Regarding Dreams & Visions

Shalom & Blessings Sister,

Over the past few months I have seen and heard so many different positions and views regarding dreams, visions and the interpretations of them that I grieve within my spirit at times. I am not going to say, in regards to the following that, "The LORD said" or "The LORD told me to tell you". I will say that He has called, justified and qualified me to give counsel of and from Him. Therefore, I ask that you give way to the Spirit in the following counsel. I ask that you pray and seek revelation for yourselves and for your particular situation and/or call in this counsel regarding dreams and visions. This Prophetess feels that this counsel is very important to the people of GOD and that this counsel is merely "in part" and will mesh with the counsel of other true prophets of the Lord.

"I will pour out My Spirit on all mankind; and your daughters will prophesy,
your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions" Joel 2:28

In order for one to understand what a dream and vision is one must have a clear-cut definition as to not only what they are but also the significance of them. Once one knows what to look for then they will be able to distinguish whether a dream is from GOD or if the dream is a result of things deep within which preoccupy one's mind.

Dreams may be defined as revelations through a series of thoughts, reflections and emotions and/or sensitivities to one's feelings seen especially while asleep. Visions are a manifestation through the mind's eye or a supernatural physical showing that communicates a revelation manifested or seen while an individual is awake.

Dreams and visions are entirely two different gifts of which GOD has given to man through which He may communicate with them. GOD communicates with us in different ways. If one is receptive to these gifts of dreams and visions, GOD will deal with them on this level. These gifts may be given for many reasons and are for the purpose of communicating a warning of things to come for an individual or the Body or to illustrate a particular message. Therefore, one must of a necessity receive revelation and place these gifts in their proper place and context. Failure to do so will result in one reading anything one like into a dream or vision, constructing a theory that may be interpreted in several different ways.

GOD has promised that in the last days that He would pour out His Spirit on all of mankind. Contrary to popular opinions and beliefs, dreams and visions and the interpretations of these gifts are not exclusively given to those who operate within the Higher Calls of apostle and prophet. Neither are this gifts given solely to those operating within the Five-Fold Ministry. Just as every believer is to receive the "Baptism" of the HOLY SPIRIT, GOD give these gifts freely to all of His children.

The problem today is that everyone wants to attach some great spiritual significance to what they dream or envision. Often one inexperienced in these gifts make the mistake of thinking that what GOD has given to them is to everyone. Most often the dream or vision has been misinterpreted therefore its true meaning lost. How is one to distinguish if a dream or vision is from GOD?

Dreams and visions are just one medium of which GOD chooses to communicate a concept to us to forewarn or to reveal His heart to us. While dreams and visions are a valid tool in teaching one how to communicate with the Father and how to learn to recognize Him, His acts, His character etc., all dreams, visions and their interpretations are not exclusively from GOD. The dream or vision may, in fact, be for that particular individual and most often misinterpreted to include the Body, town, state, or Nation or visa versa.

These gifts were given from GOD as a means to be used to propel one forward into the "HIGHER" things. They were not meant to keep one dwelling in the "baby stage" or the "Pentecostal stage" of promise but as a tool to teach and pacify one until they have become mature (Teleios) and begin to rely on and rest in the "Giver of Gifts" not the gifts.

"But when He, the Spirit of Truth comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come." (John 16:13-15)

JESUS spoke of the Truth and knowledge of GOD through the "Eyes of the Spirit". That whoever believes in Him would receive. "To whom GOD willed to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery…. Which is CHRIST, the hope of glory". It is in Him that we are sealed with the HOLY SPIRIT and Gifts of Promise. These gifts and promises are merely a pledge of our inheritance. This pledge enlightens the eyes of our heart that we would know the hope of His calling; that we should know and experience the riches of His glory and His inheritance to the Saints.

The hope of His call and the Riches of His glory is to be regenerated into the likeness of CHRIST; To become full grown (Mature-Teleios) in mind and understanding; to be transformed by the renewing of the mind according to His predestined purpose. Once that which is unseen is spiritually realized and experienced through disclosure by the Spirit of Truth, then the spirit of man will be raised and regenerated into the likeness of CHRIST to a full inheritance. The full realization or inheritance cannot be reached until CHRIST's return. Therefore, by the indwelling of CHRIST, one receives a foretaste, through these gifts He has given to man. The foretaste is our pledge of a final fulfillment of our hope. A fuller glory is yet to come--a full inheritance of the spiritual resurrection in the Feast of Tabernacles (Succoth) Anointing.

We then must realize the foreknowledge of GOD in keeping that, which remains forever. Eternal rest and maturity is our inheritance as Sons. The last day Sons of GOD and those commissioned to building the New Man, will not function in the lower ways. These will learn many lessons of reverence, rejection, brokeness, stillness and humility. In experiencing these, one will reach Teleios in PURE UNBROKEN COMMUNICATION WITH GOD. If we rely on the lower things and those things, which can be gained through the intellect, it detracts from the Light of GOD. Real wisdom brings one into union and direct communication with GOD.

It is only after one has reached maturity or Teleios that they can be grafted into Divine Union with CHRIST. Perfection or Teleios necessitates the emptying of self and immaturity's to receive a renewed knowledge in the Spirit of CHRIST.

We must walk by faith in the Spirit in order for the Divine Understanding of GOD to flood our mind. We must seek GOD in His secret hiding place. We must seek Him in His "High" and Holy places. The hindrances as a result of one resting in the lower things or the gifts include the self-will and emotions; the ways of the world; the traditions of men; and the reliance upon the intellect of man, dreams and visions. Weigh the possibilities. Ask yourself, " Was the dream or vision symbolic? What did you feel while dreaming? How do you feel now, once awake (or in the body) after contemplation? Was the dream or vision instructive? Did it cause a change within your soul? Did it cause you to move up to a higher level? Did the dream or vision meet with the Word? Did it cause you to rely upon CHRIST? If the answers to either of these questions are negative, then count the dream or vision as unreliable. Tuck it away in your heart until you know that it's from GOD. Anything that appeals to our sensual self or anything that we put an emphasis on other than Pure Word should be rejected. We must not dwell on the gift but be consumed with the "Giver of Gifts".

I'm not saying that dreams and visions are unimportant, invalid, to be taken lightly or that they are not of GOD. I am stressing the fact, however, that dreams and visions are the least reliable forms of communication and revelation from GOD. GOD deals with us wherever we are. GOD only deals with us in the things or in ways that we know and can relate to. If we can only relate to GOD in a particular venue or on a particular level, He is going to meet us where we are.

However, because one has a dream or vision, this is not to say that it is from GOD or even that it is a message from GOD. The enemy deals, if we allow him, in our mind invading our thought patterns. This is why the Word says to put on the Mind of CHRIST. Until we put on that mind of CHRIST or until the dream or vision becomes a burden, we should not give credence to or have reliance on a dream or vision, unless we know, that we know that we know that it is from GOD. Then you should wait until GOD gives you light and revelation. Otherwise the dream or vision should be hidden in the heart to a point of your feeling as if you would burst if you do not tell someone. However, that someone you choose to tell should be a mature one within the Body.

The most reliable and mature forms of communication with GOD, of course, are audibly and through the Word. The next reliable source is a teacher of the Word. Yet, if we die to self and to worldly things, we can be assured that whatever way GOD chooses to speak to us, we will know that we know that we know that it is from GOD. If, however, we are still bound with the immaturities of dwelling in the "foretaste" stage, we are limiting our communion with and our maturity in GOD. This would be comparable to someone rejecting dreams and visions completely.

JESUS is calling us into a state of Teleios. He is telling us to shuck off the baby stuff and form an intimacy of fellowship with GOD and faith in Him.
