Start an Epidemic!
Submitted by Bobby Lewis

Smiling is infectious, you catch it like the flu,
When someone smiled at me today, I started smiling too.
I passed around the corner and someone saw my grin
When he smiled I realized I'd passed it on to him .
I thought about that smile then I realized its worth,
A single smile, just like mine, could travel round the earth.
So, if you feel a smile begin, don't leave it undetected
Let's start an epidemic quick, and get the world infected!

The Poetry of Phyllis Coats

Come To Me

When your life seems to have more
waves than the stormiest of seas
God says, ' Come to Me '

When you feel like you fell off
the tallest mountain top, to never more rise
God says, ' Come to Me '

When you think in your life
you'll never again see the sun shine
God says, ' Come to Me '

God says, ' Come to Me '
believe in my mercy and love
and we will weather all things together

God says, ' Come to me ',then you shall see
after every storm the sun always shines
for every drop of rain a flower will grow
at the bottom of every mountain is a valley of green

God says, ' Come to Me '

THERE'S SOMEONE

When you got troubles
and you think no one cares
There's someone standing there

When you think you're alone
and you feel no love around
There's someone standing there

When you feel life is all darkness
and the light will never shine again
there's someone standing there

When your in need of a friend
and you think no one wants to listen
There's someone standing there

When you say I'm tired
and I can't go on
There's someone standing there

The someone is the Lord Jesus Christ
just call His name and no matter your struggle
He can and will ease your troubles

There's someone standing there

ADVICE TO A FRIEND

Life is too short to wonder
about what might have been.
If what, where or even who,
you know what you must do.
Put it all in God's capable hands,
No ifs, whats or what has happened when.

We all live too fast and hard,
with no thoughts of our tomorrows.
We forget to talk to the Boss,
unfortunately to our great loss.
But He is always there anyway,
to help ease our lifelong sorrows.

Listen my friend to this advice,
on where to go and what to do.
Have a talk with our Lord.
He is our strength, shield and sword,
easing all our tears and fears.
Then don't forget to say Thank - You..

THE LORD SAID

Sometimes, when my soul is raging within
that it mocks a summer thunderstorm
I try to remember, this too shall pass
For my Lord said so

I stop to marvel at the great beauty
even among the darkest clouds
I know the rainbow is soon to appear
For my Lord said so

I know the loudest thunder is quieter than a mouse
the brightest bolt of light, is surely dim compared
To the promise of God's voice & light on the day of reckoning
For my Lord said so

No matter how deep the rivers may run
or how thick the muddiest of lands
This shall dry and flowers will bloom
For my Lord said so

The darkest of nights shall end
my worse fears shall flee
And peace shall again dwell within
For my Lord said so..

THE FORGOTTEN ONES

Some people would walk down these halls
in this smelly ole nursing home
and see only old people sitting alone
their best friend is now a bare wall

If only someone would look real close
they would see each soul holds a mystery
each wrinkle a little piece of history
and probably a lot of reasons to boast

If they would reach out towards a wail
stop just to share a smile and hold a hand
realize they have seen changes upon this land
and their mind and bodies are going thru hell

Look into those eyes, see the spark
small frail bodies, precious like a dove
their hearts still beat, overflowing with love
only a little of yourself will lite their dark

So take a walk down this hall
open your heart, forget the smell
listen to what they have to tell
about how once they too walked tall

A Note from Phyllis: I wrote this after my grandmother passed away, hoping (praying) to draw more attention to the elderly that just get forgotten in these places ( it is hard to call something home, when there is no comfort or love of home). I am not critizing the nursing staff.. for the lack of compassion... I am just saying they have their hands full doing the duty.... most places need volunteers... to come... many would be grateful for just 1 hr. a week.
