Precious Soul
By Toyin Olakanpo

It saddens me when you are praying for someone; praying for God to touch the heart of a loved one; praying that God will apprehend him or her like he did Paul and the response of a third party is "Give it up. It is not your burden but the Lord's."

Have you ever experienced the pain of a mother who has been praying for her son to know Christ? Can you imagine her pain as she watches the devil play with her son - his drinking and drugging; his time in and out of prison; his inability to get his life straight; wasting away? Poor woman. She has been praying for 10 years and all her best friend can say to her is, "Girl, you need to give this up. Give it to Jesus." In other words, "stop wasting your time."

Have you ever experienced the pain of a wife who has been praying for her husband to know Christ? Can you imagine her pain as she watches him indulge in pornography or stays up late at night waiting for him to return home from a go-go bar? And when he does he returns home drunk, a poor example to their 5 year old son. She has been praying for 10 years and all her best friend can say to her is, "Girl, you need to give this up. Give it to Jesus." In other words, "stop wasting your time."

Dearly beloved, there is nothing more Jesus can do on this earth. The Bible tells us that all the work Jehovah asked His son to do while he was on earth was finished on the cross. ( "It is finished!" (John 19:30)) This means that God's work on this earth can only be carried out by you and me. Not by angels, but by you and me and the power of the Holy Spirit that dwells within. Our loved ones are not going to be saved without prayer. They need our prayer so that God's will for their life is done on this earth as it is in heaven. ("The Lord is not.. willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9))

God has placed a burden on your heart to pray for a soul. You know who that person is. It could be your sister; your brother; your husband; your son; your wife or a friend. You may have been praying for years but still see no results. PLEASE do not give up on that soul for that one soul, if not precious to you is precious to God.

MY DESIRE

I so much desire you to know Christ
that is my earnest prayer
for I see your pain
your life of fear and bondage
"no way out"
your struggle
trying to get out
but powerless against the demons
that lead you
there is a hole in your pocket

can't you see?
you are powerless without Christ
can't you see?
every step you take forms a vicious circle
He wants to set you free
Liberty!

I so desire for you to be free
are you not sick of all the burdens?
the pains of life?

I so desire for Him to touch your heart
His Grace and Mercy
blessings
abounding in your life

Persistent Prayer

Luke 18:1
And He told them a parable to the end that they ought always to pray and not lose heart.

Romans 12:12
Rejoice in hope; endure in tribulation; persevere in prayer.

We must persevere in prayer - never stop praying. Some prayers require perseverance. Luke 18 [1-8] says that we must ask again and again. We must have the faith to pray to the Lord persistently until the day we see His answer to the prayer.

Many pray-ers are inconsistent. Someone may pray for a day or two, but after a month, the prayer is completely forgotten. Often we may ask as if only in passing with no real faith God will act. But when the need is extreme, it is on the forefront of our minds and we pray constantly.

If you want to ask for something, you should trouble God about it. If you really want it, you must ask persistently. Keep praying for lost souls. Pray daily, many times every day. It's a matter of life and death!
