Louvre Museum
What would eventually become one
of the world's most prestigious museums, the
Louvre
Museum opened in Paris November
8, 1793. Until the French Revolution, the King's
art collection had been strictly for the private
pleasure of the Court, but revolutionary leaders
decided to open the collection to the public.
Among some of its most famous art pieces are the
Joconde (Mona Lisa), Venus de Milo, the Winged
Victory of Samothrace, and the Liberty Leading
the People. |
God
Knows
By Phillis Coates
When you
are tired and discouraged from fruitless efforts,
God knows how hard you have tried.
When
you've cried so long and your heart is in anguish,
God has counted your tears.
If you
feel that your life is on hold and time has passed you
by,
God is waiting with you.
When you
think you've tried everything and don't know where to
turn,
God has a solution.
When
nothing makes sense and you are confused or frustrated,
God has the answer.
If
suddenly your outlook is brighter and you find traces of
hope,
God has whispered to you.
When
things are going well and you have much to be thankful
for,
God has blessed you.
When
something joyful happens and you are filled with awe,
God has smiled upon you.
When you
have a purpose to fulfill and a dream to follow,
God has opened your eyes and called you by name.
Remember
that wherever you are or whatever you are facing
GOD KNOWS.
Mountains
of Life
By
Constance White
I have walked many a
mile
through these winding mountains we call life.
Through twists and
turns,
through ups and downs,
through cold and pain,
through heat and joy.
I have danced throughout
the valleys
and crawled through the low
I have jumped upon the crests
then tumbled and fallen over the sides.
I have seen glorious
sunrises
and tearful sunsets
I have survived many a storm
and enjoyed times of calm
I have twirled with
winter snowflakes
and waltzed with autumn leaves
I have breathed deeply the scent of spring
and enjoyed the aroma of summer
Yet always at the summit
or in the canyon
I have looked up into God's eyes
for all things He has created
in my mountain range called life.
Legion
By Staff
Writer Sharon Barrett
Legion
tells the story of a single man,
Who lived the way of evil, his soul could not be
tamed.
His soul was lost forever, so he does the best he
can,
To speak to mortal man, he has no one else to blame.
On
moon filled night he walks,
the earth in search of someone to talk.
While hoping all the time his soul,
he can exchange cause Satan has taken his toll.
No
one dares speaks to this man,
for to do so they also would be lost.
So he continues to do the best he can,
trying to speak to mortals, but it has its costs.
For
time as nearly run out, for a soul to claim,
No more can he walk the earth
And Satan will say "You have only yourself to
blame."
Now for him their will be no rebirth.
So
listen well to what I say,
if a man should ask your name.
On full moon nights run run away,
for one word spoken, you have only yourself to blame.
Christmas
Greetings
By: Staff Writer Geraldine Dodd
Aunt Eller's
Garden
A
gleaming hearth, holly, ivy, cedar wreath and snow flakes
floating down the window pane bring a sense of joy and
expectancy to this holiday season.
Oh !
Calm and silent night, how softly ring the Christmas
bells and Angels from the realms of Glory proclaim the
savior's birth
Candles
in the windows show forth a welcome greeting as we join
together to celebrate this wondrous day.!
Merry
Christmas and God Bless you all!
