In Summation
Now that
you've read my resume, I'm confident that I'm the only candidate
uniquely qualified to fill this vital position in your heart. In

lead you into everlasting life, (See John 6:47). When can I start? Time
is of the essence, (See Hebrews 3:15).
Prayer
on the Job
Believers in the workplace may not
realize the powerful witnessing potential they have in prayer. True,
most employers would be noncommittal or downright negative if asked
whether prayer was permitted on the job, but most also know that denying
that personal religious activity could lead to trouble.
You can let your employers know right
away that you will pray for the company and its employees daily. They
can't refuse you your private prayers, and it gives you a "safe" way to
notify them as to your faith and your commitment to prayer.
Another prayer practice that cannot be
denied is blessing your food at both snack breaks and lunch. Silently
bowing your head for a few moments as you give God thanks is unobtrusive
but sends a witness and a clear message about where you stand.
When others tell of being hurt or sick
or share about someone else's needs, you can ask if it's okay to pray
with them. Amazingly, most will assent. When I was working at Wal-Mart,
one of the floor maintenance workers had a terrible cold. He was a very
worldly man and pretty rough around the edges, but after a brief look of
confusion, grudgingly said, "I guess so." I placed my hand on his
shoulder and said a brief prayer for his healing and comfort and that he
would come to know Jesus as a friend. He came back many times after that
to talk about problems and ask for prayer... Never prejudge, just follow
the Holy Spirit's lead.
I think the key here is always to be
humble, expect some ridicule, but don't be bitter about it. Never allow
yourself to be drawn into arguments about religion at work (or anywhere
else) rather, be quietly resolute and keep strong control of your
emotions in the power of the Lord who enables you. Those who seek to
know more of the Gospel will ask about it in a nonconfrontational way.
Those who want to pick a fight, will goad you or ask leading questions.
Remember these words of the tempter, "Did God really say...?"
Don't enter a dialog with the devil.
Above all, keep on praying. The harvest
will one day surprise you... when your life for Christ is reviewed in
Glory.
