Just A Thought
By Staff Writer Sharon BarrettMatthew 5:16 "In the
same way, let your light shine before men, that
they may see your good deeds and praise your
Father in heaven."
I love this
verse, we should never hide our lights under
anything. We should shine forth all the time. I
know we live in a world of wickedness and evil,
but we do not have to be a part of it. We can be
little lights for our "Father in
Heaven." We can stay honest and true to him
if we choose to do so.

Dear Blabby
Dear Blabby;
What do you do with a husband who constantly and
unfavorably compares your cooking to his mothers?
No Chef
Dear No Chef;
What do I do with him? Nothing, he's not mine... mine is
thankful if there is a home cooked meal at all! But
here's what you can do with him: 1. Suggest he invite his
mom over to cook for you both. 2. Ask his mom for her
cooking secrets although there are probably none. 3. Tell
hubby his comments have so demoralized and hurt you that
you've decided to give up cooking altogether and order
all meals catered in.

Dear Blabby;
I saw Loretta Lynn on TV last night. She's 66 now and
looks great, is full of energy and can sing almost
anything from memory. I, too, am 66. My hair is almost
white, I forget things, have achy joints and look my age.
What's Loretta doing that I'm not?
Wrinkled in Wisconsin
Dear Wrinkled;
Well, for one thing, she's making a ton of money, has had
several face lifts, has a hair dresser, trainer, etc. She
has the motivation and the means, plus she's been blessed
with good health (although she had some rough times in
the past) and the genes to help her look that way. You
can have any hair color you choose, and a face lift, too
if you've got the bucks for it, and exercise will raise
your energy level and loosen those joints... But so what?
I'll bet there are many things about you which might make
Loretta envious, too. We are uniquely special!

Our Readers
Write...
http://handmaidens.org/499/home.htm This story "The Old
Fisherman", on your site was actually written by
Mary Bartels Bray, an 86 year old lady from West
Virginia. Please give her credit for this story written
in 1965 published in Guideposts. As you may know, a lot
of original material, written by somebody, of course,
gets emailed around and then posted. Often, the author's
name gets lost or removed and that just isn't fair to the
author and his/her hard work. I hope I can count on you
fixing this posting on your site so that she can get full
credit for her great work. Thank you.
......
Please Note;
I receive thousands of submissions for Handmaidens (which
has moved to
http://handmaidens.org ) and I always credit the author
to the best of my available knowledge. Sometimes,
however, I have no info on the author, however am always
ready to provide proper credit or remove a piece at an
author's request.
Before adding the credit, I will research to verify your
statement, meanwhile I am publishing your letter to me in
this Handmaidens issue in hopes of rectifying any errors
on my part. Please know, I make no money on
Handmaidens... I foot all expenses from my own pocket...
Also know that I NEVER claim another's work as my own!
Many blessings and best regards,
iona
