Romans 2: 11 "For God does not show favoritism."

Do you show favoritism for one child over another in your home. Do you show favoritism for one friend over another. This Scripture above is meant to show us that we as humans should not show favoritism. The Lord must not like it to have put this sentence in the Scriptures.

Favoritism in the Classroom
by Iona Hoeppner

All of us feel favoritism at times... One child over another, one friend over another, etc. - and our favorites change with circumstance - so any outward display of this fickle favoritism we may experience at the moment is not only unwise, but dangerous... and certainly not pleasing to the Lord.

Most teachers guard against playing favorites, knowing full well that the child known as the "Teacher's Pet" is in for a hard time from other students. The wise teacher also knows that children have a deep and very well developed sense of fairness and will refuse to learn from an instructor who shows preference for personalities.

The opposite is also true... good teachers do not display dislike for even the most difficult student.

Even so, nearly every parent has heard this lament from a child, "That teacher doesn't like me." Such a comment may simply be a handy excuse for a poor grade or could actually represent the child's true belief. If it is a frequent complaint about a single teacher, I suggest a visit to the classroom. If it is a common complaint about all teachers and most adults (or even most other children) a visit to a counselor might be in order.

A word of caution is called for here, however. Don't over react, but wait to see if the child's reports continue over some period of time.

God IS Like...
Submitted by Bobby Lewis

A fifth grade teacher in a Christian school asked her class to look at TV commercials and see if they could use them in some way to communicate ideas about God. Here are some of the results:

GOD is like BAYER ASPIRIN ... He works miracles.

GOD is like a FORD ... He's got a better idea.

GOD is like COKE ... He's the real thing.

GOD is like HALLMARK CARDS ... He cares enough to send His very best.

GOD is like TIDE ... He gets the stains out that others leave behind.

GOD is like GENERAL ELECTRIC ... He brings good things to life.

GOD is like SEARS ... He has everything.

GOD is like ALKA-SELTZER ... Try Him, you'll like him.

GOD is like SCOTCH TAPE ... You can't see him, but you know He's there.

GOD is like DELTA ... He's ready when you are.

GOD is like ALLSTATE ... You're in good hands with Him.

GOD is like VO-5 HAIR SPRAY ... He holds through all kinds of weather.

GOD is like DIAL SOAP ... Aren't you glad you have Him. Don't you wish everybody did?
