No Longer The Same
Submitted by Sarah's Tent

The following is a poem from a prayer service vigil I attended Wednesday night at The Spirit of Christ Catholic Community in Arvada, Colorado. A young man, around 16 or 17, read this, and I believe, wrote it too. It is very touching!

Please keep everyone involved in your prayers. Thank you!

No Longer The Same
By J.T. Thompson

On April 20th '99', 15 died at Columbine.
Children and teachers were killed and maimed.
Our lives were changed, we're no longer the same.

Images beyond compare,
Loss of words, vacant stares.
Children running, gunshots, screams,
Lives destroyed, shattered dreams.

Stone-faced parents filled with fear,
Shaking, trembling, shedding tears.
Mothers, fathers, siblings too,
Waiting, wondering, this can't be true.

Rumors are spreading and the fear starts to grow,
No one is sure, what do they know?
Children are crying, many in shock,
While the minutes of time go by, tic tock.

Names are called out of those that are safe.
Tears start to flow, and the Parent's hearts race.

Running to children with open arms,
Holding them close, they're now safe from harm.
They now comfort others that continue to wait,
For news of their children, it's now getting late.

Friends were lost, others saved,
A reality check, what do we say?
Hate, revenge? Who really knows?
But we must recover and on we go.

Understanding is what we need,
Love and peace, let's plant that seed.
Hug your child and show them you care,
And for the children we all must be there.

Take their hand and lead the way,
And restore their faith for a brighter day.
Let them know it's OK to cry,
And not be afraid to ask WHY, WHY, WHY.

Yes, Colorado was changed that day,
And the tragedy left many with nothing to say.
The fear that day touched everyone,
And we're now left to cope with the damage done.

In time the pain may fade away,
And we'll all remember this horrific day.
>From this day forward our lives have changed,
It has touched us all, we're no longer the same.

"MAY GOD BLESS THE FAMILIES"

Original Poetry by By Mrs. Geraldine Rose

"Look up to Jesus," "Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus..." These sage words are so appropriate to this time of sorrow. We thank God for the gift He has given to Geraldine Rose and for her willingness to share it with us.

Jesus Is A Friend

Look up to Jesus
Through the circumstances
Through the pain
For He's a friend to the helpless
He will get you through this thing

Look up to Jesus
When there's trouble on every hand
He'll bring you peace and comfort
While in this trial you stand

Look up to Jesus
He's a very present help
And He will give you strength
You cannot find within yourself

Look up to Jesus
For He's your dearest friend
Yes, He's a constant companion
On whom you can depend

Keep Your Eyes On Jesus

Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus
One day at a time
For you need Him every hour
Every day --- ALL THE TIME

He has promised He'll never leave you
No matter what comes your way
He will deliver you from your troubles
For He hears you when you pray

Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus
He'll be right by your side
Let faith be your shield
And His word be your guide
